Except for the families and small segments of the medical and social services communities, the mentally ill have no lobby. With increasing national debt and huge deficits who in Washington will fund research, medication, out-patient services with supervision, in-care services with supervision that is not warehousing. No one! The well-funded lobbies control the priorities and votes.

If you hunt a migratory birds, your shotgun must be plugged so it can be loaded with only three shells. If you have a semi-automatic long gun (an AR) designed to kill people, the magazine capacity in most States is unlimited. The only difference between an assault rifle and a semi-automatic long gun is cosmetic. An AR looks like something a Navy Seal would carry.
